Case study-
For this case study I am using the song "I got better" by Morgan Wallen. In this song he talks about how he grew as an individual after leaving a toxic relationship. After he got over the heartbreak, he turned into a stronger person. The scene begins with Morgan and another girl getting out after a car crash. The girl walks away in slow motion to create tension of her leaving. Tracking shots are used to track Morgan as he walks away from the scene covered in blood. They used special affects like smoke and fire to add to the suspense of the production. The camera frequently plans to show the whole scene and the surrounding trees while also capturing him singing. The video ends with Morgan smoking a cigarette alone in his car to represent his loneliness as the music fades out. The directors of the video use mis en scene like cigarettes and a truck that fit into the country genre and theme. The editing is cut into multiple different scenes to show Morgans experiences. Overall, the camera work and angles contribute to a deeper story and understanding of the video and song itself. The flashbacks and slow motions make it seem real and authentic, and the views can feel the heartbreak he is expressing and singing about.
