Script-

Good evening, and welcome to today’s report. We are analysing how a student thriller film engages its audience and how it would be distributed as a real media text.

The film targets a teenage audience, as it focuses on relatable situations such as friendships, parties, and social media. This makes it easier for viewers to connect with the characters.

The film engages audiences through uses and gratifications theory. Audiences may watch for entertainment, but also for personal identity, as they may relate to the characters and their experiences.

Another way the film engages the audience is through audience positioning. The use of dramatic irony means the audience knows something bad is going to happen before the characters do, which builds tension.

The film also uses genre conventions, which helps audiences recognise it as a thriller. This film repeats common thriller elements like suspense and a cliffhanger, but adds difference by using a realistic teenage setting.

The use of a cliffhanger ending is important because it leaves the audience with unanswered questions, encouraging them to keep watching.

In terms of distribution, the film would most likely be released on online platforms such as streaming services or social media. This is because the target audience is teenagers, who mainly consume media digitally.

The film could also be promoted through social media marketing, using trailers and clips to attract viewers. This would be effective because it directly reaches the target audience.

Overall, the film successfully engages audiences through relatable content and suspense, and would be best distributed online to reach a wide audience.
