Final Film Opening - Post Production Editing- (Evaluation)
In my film opening, as the editor I focused on how the editing creates a darker tone and builds tension throughout the scene. In the middle beginning, the cuts are quicker and more upbeat to match the party atmosphere and show the girls having fun, but as the scene progresses, the pacing slows down and the shots last longer to make everything feel more uncomfortable and off with the phone call. I also used the order of clips and reaction shots to hint that something isn’t right without showing anything obvious, with the wider shots of the party to show the contrast between how they feel and what’s happening around them. By controlling when each shot appears and how long it stays on screen, the editing helps build suspense and highlights themes of trust, vulnerability, and manipulation, fitting the overall thriller/drama tone.
