Final Film Opening- Research (Genre Conventions)
Genre Conventions-
As an actor and the editor, my film uses a lot of teen thriller conventions, like starting with a normal hangout and then slowly showing how things get scary once the party starts, which follows a typical disruption of equilibrium. It includes familiar teen settings like bedrooms, cars, and house parties, which act as genre coded locations that make the story feel realistic for young audiences. It also shows peer pressure and bad decisions leading to something dangerous, which fits common youth representation tropes in thrillers. The secret drugging, the hallucinations, and the cliffhanger ending all match thriller narrative codes, especially because the audience has dramatic irony, they know something is wrong before the characters do.
